Air Canada Centre Introduction

The Air Canada Centre, more commonly known as the ACC, is a state-of-the-art indoor sports arena in Toronto. Home to the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey club, the Toronto Raptors basketball club, and the Toronto Rock lacrosse team, this multi-purpose venue also hosts concerts, video game tournaments, and political conventions. Over 61,000 square metres in size, the facility includes a large assortment of cafes and restaurants, including fast food and fine dining. The ACC is located in downtown Toronto, surrounded by many other tourist attractions, so you won’t have a hard time finding accommodation near the arena.

Hotels near Air Canada Centre

Lodging options close to the Air Canada Centre range from cheap and cheerful hostel dorms to lavish 5-star digs. When it comes to amenities, mid-range venues usually only have restaurants, while luxury hotels typically feature spas, indoor pools, and 24-hour gyms. There are also a lot of condo rentals, which usually come with kitchens and washers/dryers. Many of the apartment rentals offer views of the CN Tower, an iconic feature of the Toronto skyline. Toronto hotel rates plummet from December to March, but so do average temperatures, which can fall below zero at the height of winter.

Where to stay near Air Canada Centre

Inns and hotels near the ACC are generally scattered throughout downtown Toronto. No matter where you stay, chances are good that your lodging is close to other points of interest, such as the Modernist Toronto City Hall and the lively Yonge-Dundas Square. If you’re looking to rent an apartment for a night or 2, there’s a row of condominiums along York Street, south of Union Station. From here, you can walk to both the CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium of Canada. Another cluster of condo rentals can be found on Front Street and its surrounding streets; this area is west of Union Station.

Things to see near Air Canada Centre

Before watching a hockey game at the Air Canada Centre, you can drop by the Hockey Hall of Fame to learn more about the history of the popular sport. Just 5 minutes’ walk from the ACC, this museum showcases National Hockey League memorabilia, such as records and trophies, as well as exhibits on teams and players. Alternatively, you can visit the 553-metre-tall CN Tower. SkyPod, the highest of its 3 observation decks, offers views from 447 metres up, while another observation deck features a glass floor that lets you see 342 metres below. You can also check out the cultural events and performances at the Harbourfront Centre on the banks of Lake Ontario.

How to get to Air Canada Centre

The Air Canada Centre is directly connected to Union Station, a major railway station and Canada’s busiest transport hub. Listed as a National Historic Site, Union Station itself is one of Toronto’s main attractions; it was built in the beaux arts style in the early 20th century. Today, it’s a stop on several bus, commuter rail, and passenger rail routes, including Amtrak trains from the U.S. If you’re taking the metro, Union Station is also accessible from Union Subway Station. The Air Canada Centre is also connected to Toronto’s 30-kilometre PATH network of pedestrian walkways.
