Top neighborhoods in West Vancouver

Horseshoe Bay

Horseshoe Bay wraps you in coastal charm with its stunning waterfront promenade along Howe Sound. Watch ferries glide in and out of the bustling terminal while mountain backdrops frame your photos. Spend the afternoon beach-hopping, checking out local art at Spirit Gallery, or simply breathing in that perfect mix of salt air and mountain freshness. Waterfront restaurants dish up fresh seafood with killer views, though they tend to close early with the ferry schedule. The compact village is super walkable, so ditch the car worries. Just remember that parking fills up fast during ferry departures if you're planning day trips to Vancouver Island or the Sunshine Coast.

Ambleside

Ambleside offers a coastal paradise where sea meets sky along Burrard Inlet's stunning waterfront promenade. The seaside walkway delivers postcard-worthy views of Vancouver's skyline and Lions Gate Bridge. Ambleside Park beckons with golden sandy beaches, tennis courts, and lush gardens where locals and visitors alike soak up the Pacific Northwest vibes. The village core charms with boutique shops and galleries showcasing local art and West Coast treasures. Upscale casual restaurants serve fresh seafood on oceanview patios, perfect after a day of beachcombing. TransLink buses connect you to downtown Vancouver, while the walkable area lets you ditch the car and embrace the laid-back lifestyle.

Dundarave

Dundarave's gorgeous seawall invites you to stroll along Burrard Inlet with jaw-dropping mountain views. This charming West Vancouver gem balances peaceful residential vibes with village-style shopping. The iconic pier stretches into the water while Dundarave Beach offers sandy shoreline access and perfect sunset spots. Think Pacific Northwest at its finest. The area serves up delicious local cuisine at ocean-view cafes along Marine Drive. Accommodation options lean toward vacation rentals and B&Bs with stunning vistas. Getting around the village core is easy on foot, though a car helps for exploring beyond this tranquil coastal retreat.

Hollyburn

Hollyburn blends luxury living with natural splendour in West Vancouver's upscale residential haven. Tree-lined streets wind between elegant Tudor Revival and West Coast Contemporary homes nestled among towering Douglas firs. Outdoor enthusiasts can hit nearby Hollyburn Mountain trails or stroll along Capilano River's scenic paths. The Gertrude Lawson Museum and Ferry Building Art Gallery offer cultural escapes when you're not enjoying mountain views. The area has minimal dining within its boundaries, so most visitors head to nearby Ambleside Village or Park Royal for meals. Accommodation options focus on luxury vacation rentals and high-end bed & breakfasts in heritage homes. While public transit is limited, the peaceful streets make for lovely walks under the forest canopy.

Caulfeild

Caulfeild offers a peaceful escape with winding streets and lush greenery just minutes from downtown Vancouver. This upscale West Vancouver area sits next to stunning Lighthouse Park where old-growth forest meets rocky shoreline. Take in breathtaking ocean views while exploring quiet, tree-lined streets dotted with impressive homes. Nature lovers will appreciate the bird songs and salt air. Getting around requires a car as public transit is limited in this residential haven. The area has no restaurants or shops within its boundaries, so plan to visit nearby Horseshoe Bay or Park Royal for dining and shopping. Accommodation options focus on luxury vacation rentals with premium amenities and private waterfront access.

You can get to this island very easily during low tide, but as the tide comes in the very easy path disappears and you’re left swimming between boulders. We watched as groups of people made their way to island only to have quite the surprise trying to get back. Quick tip, check to see when the tide comes in before heading out.... or bring your paddle board 😝

This way, you'll be among the first to know when prices drop or rooms become available for a spontaneous getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate based on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay in a West Vancouver hotel. For those in search of unique accommodations, boutique hotels can provide a more personalized experience and sometimes better value. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll suggest more affordable dates to enhance your chances of finding a great deal.
  4. Consider your location: Choosing accommodations near major attractions or downtown areas can be convenient, but they usually tend to be more expensive. For more budget-friendly options, look for hotels in less central neighbourhoods that strike a balance between cost and accessibility to your desired destinations.
