"We upgraded to a family suite, which was clean, nice, and conveniently located close to most amenities. Unfortunately, we were unable to book any of the specialty restaurants. We tried two lunch buffets: one was good and the other just okay. Food quality was inconsistent, with some items appearing pre‑cooked and reheated.
Service was mixed: some staff were friendly and helpful, while others seemed disengaged and unhappy to be there. Alcohol options were mid‑tier at best, so if you have specific brand preferences, it’s worth checking ahead of time. The pools were nice, and the kids especially enjoyed the high jump and slide.
The beach and ocean were not usable during our stay due to heavy seaweed, and the smell from the rotting seaweed was unpleasant. At night, the outdoor air‑conditioning units produced noticeable fan noise, though it did not affect sleeping inside the room. The resort sprayed for mosquitoes, but bites still varied by person.
The resort uses room cards and towel cards and charges $40 for any lost towel card, which feels outdated but may help offset costs. Our biggest issue was with the resort credits. Our Expedia package included $300 per room, but we only received $450 total for two rooms instead of $600. After some pushback from the resort staff, we dropped the issue. We were only able to use $60 of the credits towards two massages and later heard Costco offers better resort credit packages."
